Grinders are gradually becoming automated

State-of-the-art computer-controlled automatic grinding system for efficient grinding of compression springs. Grinding large numbers of springs quickly with precise precision, its mechanics reduce operator involvement, increasing speed and part compliance. Compared to less automated grinders, the new grinding system is equipped with a computer that controls and monitors grinding levels.
During setup, the operator uses the touchscreen interface to enter grinding specifications into the computer and can calibrate the grinding wheel to meet very tight customer tolerances. These computer controls greatly simplify the calibration process compared to traditional grinders, which often require experienced equipment operators who use hand tools to manually adjust the grinding discs.
The computer also controls the grinding wheel operation of the grinding system and tilts and adjusts the grinding wheel according to the set parameters, effectively grinding each order to meet the customer's requirements. In addition, the system monitors the grinding wheel quality. The new grinding system automatically loads and empties parts, increasing spring grinding speed and reducing labor costs.
Whereas traditional grinder systems must load each spring into the wheel individually, this new technology loads the springs accurately without operator involvement. Springs are loaded into hoppers in bulk, and the system uses an air vacuum and a part handler to move and separate parts, automatically feeding each spring into the grinding wheel.
When the grinding wheel is fully loaded, the computer triggers the grinding operation to begin, and the grinding level is monitored by proximity sensors. When the proper grind is reached, the system stops the grind, automatically empties the finished part, and restarts the entire process, all without operator involvement.
